2nd Shiraz International Surgical Oncology Congress

The second Shiraz International Cancer Surgery Congress will be held on December 6-8, 2023 in Shiraz, Iran.

Cancer is one of the biggest threats to human health all over the world and 70% of cancer deaths occur in low- and middle-income countries. It is expected that in 2030, more than 120 thousand new cases of cancer will appear in Iran. In addition to having a major role in the treatment of cancer, surgery also plays a significant role in the diagnosis, prevention, reconstruction, and rehabilitation of cancer patients.

Special attention to cancer surgery as a sub-branch of general surgery since several decades ago and especially during the last two decades in some countries, has led to the improvement of medical care and the final result of treatment in many patients with different types of cancer.

The cancer surgery department and the breast disease research center of Shiraz University of Medical Sciences are planning to hold the second international cancer surgery congress in Shiraz to use the knowledge and experiences of prominent researchers and experts from the world's prestigious centers, in addition to the exchange of ideas and opinions of experts and researchers from different centers in Iran, and the world.

It has been tried during the three days of this congress, by presenting specialized lectures, panels with the active participation of the audience and various workshops, standard treatment methods, especially surgical techniques, and new methods of surgical interventions in the treatment of various cancers, including breast cancer, gastrointestinal cancers, hepatobiliary and pancreatic cancers, melanoma, soft tissue sarcoma, kidney cancer, administrative ducts, and OB/GYN cancers should be discussed. Also, in this congress, anesthesia considerations in cancer surgery will be discussed and opinions will be exchanged in the presence of anesthesiologists.
